A versatile flyer – cutting through fairways with balance and consistency
When we started working on this disc, the goal was simple: build on what made the Chickadee special, but take it to the next level. The Chickadee filled a very specific role—a low-speed, overstable, maneuverable disc that you could flick with confidence. But I wanted something that still felt just as good in the hand, maybe even better, and that could handle a stronger grip and more power.
This new design takes inspiration from a larger bird with more momentum, and that character really comes through in the way it flies. It’s still overstable, but it now has an extended glide that lets it push down the fairway before finishing with a dependable fade. That means it’s not just an approach disc—it’s got the distance potential to cover shots in the midrange-to-fairway gap.
Most importantly, it’s a true wind fighter. Whether you’re ripping it off the teepad or dialing in an approach in tough conditions, it’s consistent, accurate, and built to trust. This disc represents a big step forward for us, and I can’t wait to see how people put it into play. This design eventually went through 8 iterations to become the MD-8 prototype, and has since been optimized for performance and production.
